Getting started

Baseline shows a blank screen or "No Health data yet"

Baseline needs permission to read Apple Health. iOS remembers these toggles even after you delete and reinstall an app, so a fresh install can land with access off. Turn it on in Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Baseline → Turn On All, or tap "Turn on Health access" in the app, then reopen Baseline.

Nothing appears even though access is on

Baseline reads from Apple Health, so it can only show what Health already has. If you've just set up a new iPhone or Apple Watch, give Health time to sync your history, then reopen the app.

The AI coach

Is "Ask Baseline" private?

Yes. On supported iPhones the coach runs on-device with Apple's built-in intelligence; your questions and your health data never leave your phone. On devices without on-device AI, Baseline still answers with exact figures straight from your data.

Which iPhones get the full conversational coach?

The on-device language model requires an iPhone with Apple Intelligence. On other models Baseline still works and still answers with precise figures and charts — just without the free-form conversational voice.

Food & logging

How do I log a meal?

Four ways, whichever is fastest: photograph it and let the on-device model read it, scan the barcode, search for it by name, or simply tell the coach — "I had a slice of pizza." Every entry is an estimate you can edit before or after it saves.

Are the calorie numbers accurate?

They're estimates, and worth checking. A photo can't see portion size, hidden oil, or butter, so a dressed and undressed salad look nearly identical and differ by hundreds of calories. Branded and restaurant items looked up by name or barcode use published figures, which are firmer. Baseline never saves a meal without showing you the numbers first.

Does Baseline change my Apple Health data?

Only what you log yourself. Food, drinks, weight and similar entries you record are written into Apple Health so they count everywhere. If you ask it to remove a meal you logged, it deletes that entry — and Apple Health only permits an app to delete its own entries, so Baseline cannot touch anything another app or you wrote.

Devices & requirements

Baseline requires iOS 27, and watchOS 27 for the watch app. It runs on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, with Home and Lock Screen widgets. Health charts need a device with Apple Health on it; a Mac shows the read your iPhone published.

Privacy & data

Baseline keeps your health data on your device — no account, no analytics, no tracking. It reads Apple Health, and writes back only the entries you make yourself. Searching a food by name or scanning a barcode sends that query, and nothing else, to public nutrition databases. See the privacy policy for the detail. To review or revoke access at any time: Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Baseline.
